Final information for EMS2022 online participants

Thank you very much for your online participation registration for the EMS2022. The event is less than a week away and we would like to provide some final information for your access and preparation options.

Online access and gather.town

As online participant you will have various options to join oral talks, poster displays, and sessions. For the general approach please see the webpage on the EMS2022 format https://www.ems2022.eu/about/ems2022_format.html, and specifically the section on Online platforms & access.

Two platforms are used for joining the EMS2022 online:

  1. gather.town will host the online poster display in four poster rooms and five lecture rooms to which all oral sessions are streamed live. You will find introductory information when you access the platform the first time, guidelines are also provided here.
  2. zoom must be used by all oral presenters, but can be entered by any registered participant to follow the session; in contrast to gather.town, zoom offers interactivity, i.e. the chat in zoom will be monitored by one of the session chairs, and the option to ask a live question (if called by the chair) is provided.

Both, online oral and poster sessions can be virtually accessed via the online programme: https://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EMS2022/sessionprogramme. Please note that the respective "Enter zoom meeting" or “Enter gather.town” button will only appear approx. 15 min before the start of the session. A list of sessions about to start/live will also appear on the Home website.

Online Poster display: All poster authors, independent of the onsite or online presentation mode have been asked to upload their electronic poster for display in gather.town. The posters will be on display for the entire conference week. Online poster sessions (i.e. poster-author-in-attendance time) take place in parallel to the onsite poster sessions.
Posters are organised in four different gather.town rooms, named according to the onsite poster session times: “Poster-Monday”, “Poster-Tuesday”, Poster-Wednesday”, and Poster “Thursday-Friday”.

To follow oral sessions, you have two options: entering the respective zoom meeting (which enables chatting and asking questions live) or alternatively, by accessing the platform gather.town that has – in addition to the poster areas – five lecture rooms to which the onsite sessions are streamed.
Please note, that online presenters of oral talks must join oral sessions via zoom to be able to present their slides.
All presenters are kindly reminded that upload of their live presentation file at least 24 hours before their session starts is a must.

EMS2022 Personal programme

To get the most out of the EMS2022 programme, we recommend you generate your personal programme of sessions and specific presentations you would like to attend, in advance. This personal programme can be saved in the Copernicus Office, updated any time, downloaded as PDF, printed or sent to an email-address you can specify. You may also add personal appointments.

Note that you have to login with your Copernicus Office user ID for the tool to be available.

The daily programme for each lecture room will also become available for download on the EMS2022 home page, and will be on display in gather.town in front of the respective lecture room.

To prepare for the meeting you can also visit the display materials that have been uploaded with many abstracts in advance; you can comment on these, already exchange with the author, and continue the discussion then online during the conference week.

We wish you all an interesting event and look forward to seeing you online at the EMS2022.
In case any questions arise, please do not hesitate to contact us.
